Drivers and passengers face a higher risk of falling victim to a deadly speed-related crash in South Carolina more so than any other state in the country, according to a study by Forbes Advisor.

Over the past decade, 494 of 1,064 deaths on South Carolina roadways have been attributed to speeding. At 46%, that's first in the nation.

According to the study, since 2010, deaths due to speeding have increased 11% in the Palmetto State.

On the flip side, Florida is ranked as the least dangerous state for speed-related traffic deaths. Just 285 of the Sunshine State's 3,331 total deaths (9%) were attributed to speeding.
